The formula
Each discount applies to the price left after the previous one: final = price × (1 − d1) × (1 − d2) × … The combined discount is 1 minus that product. So 30% then 20% equals 44% off, not 50%.
Does order matter?
For percentage discounts, no: multiplication gives the same answer in any order. Order does matter once you mix in fixed-amount coupons, which Toolra also supports.
Frequently asked questions
Why isn't 20% + 20% equal to 40%?
The second 20% applies to an already reduced price. The combined discount is 1 − 0.8 × 0.8 = 36%.
Can I add fixed dollar discounts?
Yes. Switch any step to a fixed amount, e.g. $10 off, and it applies in sequence.
How many discounts can I add?
Up to 10 steps.
