How lines are rejoined
Single line breaks inside a paragraph are replaced with spaces. Blank lines are kept as paragraph breaks. Words broken with a hyphen at the end of a line are merged back together, so "docu- ment" becomes "document".
Smart paragraph detection
Some PDFs have no blank lines between paragraphs. Turn on sentence-end detection and a line that ends with a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark is treated as the end of a paragraph.
Frequently asked questions
Will real hyphenated words be broken?
Only hyphens at the very end of a line followed by a lowercase letter are merged. Hyphens in the middle of a line, like well-known, are untouched.
Can it keep bullet lists?
Yes. Lines starting with bullets, dashes or numbers like 1. are kept on their own line.
Does it work with text from scanned PDFs?
Yes, as long as you can copy the text. It also works with OCR output.
